General Wellness

General Wellness

Most people who come to National Lymphatic Centers are not managing a diagnosis. Experience the general wellness of MLD manual lymph drainage massage for that healthy glow, that lighter feeling of better mobility. Better health begins with taking time for yourself. This is our work, and it has been since 1991.

Lymphedema
Body & Recovery

Lymphedema

A limb that stays heavy and swollen. A sock line or a ring that no longer fits by afternoon. The quiet worry that it is slowly getting worse. Lymphedema is a condition we manage, and there is real, ongoing work that helps.

Lipedema
Body & Recovery

Lipedema

The swelling in your legs is not the kind that dieting fixes. Lipedema is a fat-tissue condition, and it responds to the right hands-on care. We help you manage the swelling, ease the pain, and slow how it progresses.

Post-Surgical Swelling
Body & Recovery

Post-Surgical Swelling

The swelling that follows an operation is your body's normal response to being disrupted, and for many clients it can be helped along. Gentle manual lymphatic drainage clears the fluid that pools while you heal, so the tightness eases and recovery feels more comfortable.

Post-Mastectomy Lymphedema

You have already been through so much. Now the arm on your surgery side feels heavy, or a ring stops fitting, or the skin near the scar looks fuller than it did. This kind of swelling has a name, and there is gentle, ongoing care that helps you manage it.

Fibrosis After Liposuction
Body & Recovery

Fibrosis After Liposuction

The firm, lumpy areas that can form as the tissue heals are called fibrosis. With your surgeon's clearance, hands-on lymphatic and soft-tissue work can help soften them and smooth the area over a series of visits.

Seroma After Surgery

A soft, sloshing pocket that formed under your healing incision can be unsettling. A seroma is a matter for your surgeon first. Once they have cleared you, our gentle lymphatic drainage can support your recovery.

Steps to your first visit.

  1. 01

    Pick what you came for

General wellness, bloat or puffiness, recovery after surgery, or a diagnosed condition like lymphedema or lipedema. Most people start with manual lymphatic drainage.

  2. 02

    Assessment with a certified therapist

A certified therapist goes through your history and checks what your tissue is actually doing, then maps the plan from there. You do not need a diagnosis to start.

  3. 03

    Self-pay, no insurance

We do not bill insurance. HSA and FSA are accepted, and we provide an itemized superbill if you want to file for reimbursement yourself. NLC is listed on many insurance resource referral pages, and some clients do receive reimbursement toward an out-of-network, out-of-pocket deductible.

    Book

Choose Hinsdale, Downers Grove or Joliet and pick a time. Sessions run 70 minutes. First visits are prepaid, and a 48-hour cancellation notice keeps your spot open. Questions? 630-828-6582.

  5. 05

    Your designed program

Almost nobody is here once. Out of your assessment comes a program — intensive sessions with the Clinic Director first, then weekly treatments with a licensed practitioner, then monthly maintenance — and it changes as you improve.

    How programs work

Not sure which one describes what you are feeling?

That is a fair question, and an easy one to sort out together. Tell us what you have noticed and we will help you find the right starting point, or let you know honestly whether this work is a fit for you.
